Geranium Sale this Sunday in Downey Hall. Help support the Youth Mission Trip.

Cut the Grass?

On Sunday, May 23rd we are hosting the opportunity to take our love of Christ into our community. On that day from 1:00pm to 3:00pm, it is our goal to send 10 teams of 3-4 people into the community to do yard work for folks that are unable to do so for themselves.  This will include anything from mowing to planting flowers. If you would like to sign up to be a part of a team, please email us at the above referenced address or call the office at 663-1515. Also, if you know someone who would benefit with some yard work being done for them, let us know that too!

VOLUNTEER

Sunday, (May 23), when you visit the Culvers Restaurant on Summit Street in Crown Point between the hours of 11:00am to 8:00pm, they will donate 20% of your purchase to help out with the Disabled Veterans fundraiser we are hosting.  Simply mention that you are supporting the First United Methodist Church.  All monies raised will be given back to us to go to the Disabled American Veterans chapters in our area. This applies to drive-thru, take-out and dine-in at Culvers.

Fun Times on The Way

May 30th is race day! The INDY 500, our states biggest claim to fame! And, we’re gonna have a party.
We will gather in Downey Hall for a pot luck at 12:30 pm. See the sign-up at the Information Center to please let us know how many will be coming and what you will be bringing. The church will provide meat and drinks.
You may not be a fan of the race, so we will have lots of other things for you to do. We’ll have board games, card games and crafts for the kids.
It’s been a long time since we’ve gathered for a meal and fellowship. We want to make this special in every way.
The most special side-attraction will be making cars out of large cardboard boxes in preparation of June 25th’s family outdoor movie night. Start planning your car design. We’ll have plenty of large boxes and supplies to decorate.
I cannot wait to see dozens of these cars on the front lawn of the church the evening of June 25th. What a sight that will be!

To Be Announced

According to John Wesley and the Methodist tradition, personal piety (acts of devotion) and social action are both essential aspects of the person’s walk with Christ.  To pursue one without the other can lead to a self-righteous faith and burnout.  In our study of the book, The Good and Beautiful Community, we will explore how to re-unite personal piety and social action so that our faith becomes a more vibrant and powerful witness to our community.

It will be held on Wednesday evenings from 6:00-7:30 in Downey Hall beginning on April 7 and ending on June 2. The class will be taught by Roger Parks.
