First United Methodist Church of Crown Point is honored to welcome Sammy L. Davis, Congressional Medal of Honor recipient and Vietnam War hero, for a powerful and inspiring morning of remembrance and gratitude.
Often referred to as the “real-life Forrest Gump,” Mr. Davis received the nation's highest military award for extraordinary bravery in 1967 when he risked his life under enemy fire to rescue fellow soldiers. His story was later highlighted in the 1994 film Forrest Gump, bringing national attention to his courage and sacrifice.
This special event will also recognize and honor all veterans in our community. We invite members of the community, families, and individuals of all ages to join us as we express gratitude for those who have served and continue to serve our country.
Rev. Mark Wilkins shares:
“It will be an honor, not simply to honor Mr. Davis, but all veterans from our community that day.”
Following the service, guests are welcome to stay for light refreshments and fellowship.
