We exist to glorify God by nurturing people into a relationship with Jesus Christ, fostering spiritual growth, and serving our community through love.
Our mission is to be a welcoming community where all people can encounter God, grow in faith, and build life-giving relationships. Through worship, discipleship, outreach, and service, we seek to share the love of Christ with Crown Point and beyond.
We envision First UMC of Crown Point as a Christ-centered and energetic community where people of all ages and walks of life find a home filled with hope, belonging, and purpose.
Seek God.
Love Others.
Serve Passionately.
The Bible We believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God. It is our final authority for faith and living, providing a reliable map for navigating life and understanding God’s character.
Key Scripture: 2 Timothy 3:16-17; Psalm 119:105
The Trinity We believe in one God who eternally exists in three persons: the Father, the Son (Jesus Christ), and the Holy Spirit. They are co-equal and move in perfect unity.
Key Scripture: Matthew 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14
Jesus Christ We believe Jesus is both fully God and fully man. He was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, died on the cross as a sacrifice for our sins, rose bodily from the dead, and ascended to heaven.
Key Scripture: John 1:1, 14; Colossians 1:15-20
The Holy Spirit We believe the Holy Spirit lives within every believer, providing the power to live a godly life, the comfort of God’s presence, and unique spiritual gifts to build up the church.
Key Scripture: John 14:16-17; Acts 1:8
Salvation We believe that humanity was created to be in a relationship with God but became separated by sin. Salvation—the restoration of that relationship—is a free gift of God’s grace. It cannot be earned through good works; it is received through faith in Jesus Christ.
Key Scripture: Ephesians 2:8-9; Romans 10:9
The Church We believe the Church is not a building, but a global community of people who follow Christ. The local church is a place where we gather for worship, prayer, fellowship, and to serve our neighbors.
Key Scripture: 1 Corinthians 12:12-27; Hebrews 10:24-25
The Return of Christ We believe that Jesus Christ will one day return to earth to finalize His kingdom, bring ultimate justice, and restore all things.
Key Scripture: Revelation 21:1-4; 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17
Humanity We believe every person is created in the image of God. Because of this, every human being—regardless of background or circumstance—possesses inherent dignity and is worthy of love and respect.
Key Scripture: Genesis 1:27; Psalm 139:13-16
